Arakoon National Park is on the NSW mid north coast near South West Rocks.
The park centres around Trial Bay Gaol which was built 1877-1886 to house the inmates that were building the breakwater in Trial Bay.
Later the gaol was used an internment camp during World War.
A monument to the internees who died during this period is built on the headland nearby.
